Compact, quiet-ish Air Compressor Recommendations?

I’m in need of a small air compressor for some menial basic tasks (blower nozzle primarily, possibly some small tire inflation, tubeless bike tire bead seating, maybe a brad nailer in the future.)

Currently, it’s going in a small and mostly enclosed space. I’ve been looking at the Makita and California Air Tools compressors because they’re rather quiet at ~60dB, mostly leaning towards the Makita MAC210Q - 1hp 2gal and 2CFM@90PSI . Anything I’m overlooking? any recommendations? What would you pick for a small, compact compressor?

I bought this Senco recently for the same reason

1 Gal. 1/2 HP Portable Pancake Electric Air Compressor

https://www.homedepot.com/p/205513089

It’s very  quiet and very small. It’s not super great at seating tubeless tires. I had to set the regulator pressure to max and let it run till it stopped. Then I had to remove the valve cores to get enough airflow.

It did the job, but I think that task in particular could benefit from something with a bit more capacity.

Looks like your Makita has got an extra gallon. Likely good enough.

I went to Amazon and bought a cheap portable like this . These are even smaller. Not professional grade by any means, but small and good for bike and car tires and rafts and balls. I had a long line of more expensive, brand name tool-grade rechargeable pumps that never seemed to last more than a couple of years, so I stopped spending more money on them. The one I have now is doing well, and if it dies, I’m not so upset.

I got this . I guess that’s only helpful if you’re in Canada

Its pretty quiet. You’re not going to be painting anything with it, but it is useful for blowing/inflating/seating tubeless as you specified. I got it with a combination of a super sale and gift card so it was only ~$100. Not sure I’d be satisfied with it if I’d paid full price.

oh, i forgot about those! are they loud? asking as in, would someone be OK sitting in the backseat with one running, or would they have tinnitus?

i recently added a used ARB front bumper to the 80, and without a winch there’s a massive void up front. need to put something up there.

i’ve got a small viair 88p portable compressor for airing up car tires, i think i need something a bit more stationary for blower gun duty.

Oh, yes of course. Then what I suggested won’t do.

78 dB isn’t quiet. It’ s not ear busting, but you’d notice. Think loud vacuum cleaner.

Looks similar but smaller. The one I got is 4gal. Still cuts in doing a truck tire though.

Just out an 80 gallon tank compressor in the garage and close the door.  Then go to the other side of the house and you won’t hear a thing.

I don't have that particular model, but I have a California Air Tools compressor at school. It is remarkably quiet. It's slightly louder than a loud refrigerator. I've been very pleased with it. I want one for my garage quite badly.

i used a 2hp/10gal california air compressor at a previous job, it was amazingly quiet. i feel like a school is a good application for them.

Yea probably. Kobalt prices seemed better from what I recall when I was shopping .

It definitely is. It’s held up pretty well too. I think it’s four years old now. While it doesn’t exactly live a difficult life, the Senco it replaced shat the bed after a year.  I was super pissed about that.

We have the smaller HF one at work. still kind of loud. co-worker had to male a padded box to go around it to muffle a bit more. I can test tomorrow, but might be more than 60 db if using this chart.
